School District: William Floyd (Security)
My name is Tracy Pirro, and I’ve proudly served in the Security Department at William Floyd School District for the past ten years. Over the last two years, I’ve taken on the role of 3rd Vice President for Local 870 and currently serve as President of the William Floyd Security Unit.
With a background in both public service and small business ownership, I bring a strong ability to communicate, de-escalate, and lead with professionalism and compassion. My approach is rooted in respect, teamwork, and a genuine passion for the work I do and the people I serve.
As a union leader, I’ve been actively involved in successful contract negotiations, securing significant gains for our members—including a $5/hour raise, improved longevity pay, full payout of unused time at retirement, and additional compensation for graduation duties. I’ve stood up for my Unit and supported other Units across the district, advocating for fairness and unity.
Education and Training
I’ve participated in numerous trainings—on leadership, grievances, workplace violence, and retirement—and served as a Local Delegate for the ADM conference. I’ve also helped plan and coordinate our Local 870 conferences and events, including our first holiday celebration, which was a huge success.
I am running for 2nd Vice President because I believe in the power of our Union and its members. Local 870 is a diverse, passionate group committed to positive change, and I want to continue contributing to that mission. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built within the district and the broader community, and I’m dedicated to helping our Union grow stronger, together.
Outside of work, my greatest accomplishment is being a proud mother of three incredible children who are navigating the world with integrity and resilience.
With the inspiring leadership of President Maria Navarro, I believe we can continue to build a stronger, more unified Local 870. I’m honored to be a part of this team and look forward to continuing the work of making our schools—and our Union—a better place for all.
